Matte Black Purple Forged Carbon Vinyl Wrap is a dark forged-carbon vinyl wrap around a black base and is worked in purple around the irregular carbon pattern. The wrap is more of a black or very dark charcoal color from a distance, not bright purple. The purple is more prominent in the broken sections of the forged-carbon pattern, which deepens the surface color without coating the entire panel in purple.

This is something that doesn't look like a normal woven carbon fibre option, either. The surface uses an irregular, broken-up forged-carbon pattern rather than a regular woven carbon-fiber structure. The balance of the dark base, purple detailing and broken-up carbon pattern is what creates the visual effect, not metallic flakes or a regular repeating carbon weave.

The black and purple will look different with a matte finish.

A matte surface minimises reflections and lessens the sharp highlights that are typical of gloss forged-carbon wraps. As a result, black remains the dominant color across the surface, whereas purple is more of an element within the pattern and not a layer over the pattern surface.

This finish is darker and less shiny than a Gloss Purple Forged Carbon wrap. The purple is a little more visible if the light strikes the panel from different angles, as compared to a Matte Black Forged Carbon wrap.

The outcome is not the same as color-shift wrap. To create variation, the film doesn't have to go from black to a completely different shade. The majority of the change is due to the amount of purple that can be seen and the intensity of the black and purple under various lighting conditions.

How Matte Black Purple Forged Carbon Looks in Different Lighting

Matte Black Purple Forged Carbon can appear different in direct sunlight, shade and indoor lighting.

In Direct Sunlight

The purple areas are easier to distinguish against the black base in stronger daylight. Areas under stronger direct light may appear less uniformly black as more of the purple detailing and individual forged shapes become visible.

In Shade

Put the same panel in shade and this will make it darker. Black dominates the surface more, and purple is more subtle and may seem like a dark shade, instead of being a bright hue.

Under Indoor Workshop Lighting

In between is indoor workshop lighting. The purple and carbon pattern may stand out more on the side of the panel that is lit under directional lights, and it will be quite dark on the rest of the panel. This allows it to appear different depending on where it is viewed from, but without it becoming a chameleon or color shift finish.

How the Forged Carbon Pattern Looks on Different Body Panels

Flat Panels

Large flat surfaces like a hood, roof or door allow the forged-carbon pattern the space it needs to be viewed as a field. The areas of broken black and purple are easier to follow as the surface is more uniformly lit.

Curved Bodywork

For bumpers, fenders, mirrors and other curved surfaces, the pattern can appear more varied. The purple section of one curve might appear more purple while the neighbouring region remains close to black as the two portions are receiving and reflecting light in different ways. The matte finish ensures that those changes are not quite as dramatic as they would be on a high-gloss forged-carbon wrap.

That's why the wrap might appear to be somewhat subdued on one side and black-purple on the other.

Matte Black Purple Forged Carbon Compared With Other Carbon Looks

This color remains more in the black end of the spectrum if you wish to have a forged-carbon pattern without brightening up the whole car. The purple is complementary and not a main color.

The Matte Black Forged Carbon wrap will look more monochromatic, while a Gloss Purple Forged Carbon wrap will tend to highlight bright reflections and the purple color.

It's also significantly different in appearance from traditional carbon-fiber vinyl. Traditional carbon-fiber vinyl usually uses a more regular woven pattern. The broken-up black and purple pattern of this wrap can be attributed to the more irregular, fragmented look of forged carbon.

The wrap is made of PVC vinyl and features air-release channels in the adhesive which can help minimize trapped air during installation. Using the correct installation method and heat, the film can be used on vehicle body panels and bent around curves and edges.

Because the forged-carbon pattern remains visible, panel positioning will be more important than if the wrap is a solid colour. It is important for installers to inspect pattern orientation and pattern appearance between adjacent panels prior to final installation, particularly in larger sections of the vehicle.
