Description

Color Shift Satin Purple Red Vinyl Wrap is a satin surface vinyl wrap that has a more muted tone of purple. The colour also varies with the light, viewing angle and shape of the panel, from a simple purple-pink, through violet, plum and cooler purple-violet.

With more intense outdoor light, additional berry and magenta-purple tones stand out while some angled surfaces shift to cooler blue-violet and blue-teal colors. The change is particularly evident around the corners of the fenders, bumpers and other rounded areas, where multiple angles of a surface can be viewed simultaneously.

This film does not appear as a bright primary red – it is the warm side of the film. Its color on the vehicle is closer to plum-red, raspberry-purple or magenta, still in the purple family.

Color and Satin Finish

The satin finish is also a significant factor in the way this color change appears. The satin surface of the film diffuses light more gently over the body, unlike the high-gloss wrap that creates sharper reflections and brighter highlights. Reflections are still visible and they are less mirror-like. This allows for a smoother and wider transition between purple, plum and cooler violet colors.

The wrap is more subdued in shade or under less intense indoor lighting, while the dark violet-purple color dominates. The difference between individual tones is more apparent in direct sunlight.

The film will be sensitive to light and to angle, so the vehicle will not have a single shade of purple from all angles.

The tone of a large, relatively flat surface like the center of a hood or door will be more uniform, appearing violet or plum-purple.

The change is more apparent around the edges of the hood, shoulder lines and lower door contours.

The most pronounced difference is typically found around the front fenders, bumper corners, rear quarter panels and wheel arches. These areas appear purple next to cooler blue-violet in the current reference photos, and rounded areas can have enhanced purplish pink or magenta colors.

This effect is more noticeable on vehicles with body lines, wide fenders, and strong wheel arches. The proportion of purple and warmer plum colors and cooler violet colors will continue to vary based on vehicle shape, weather, ambient lighting, and perspective.

Material and Installation

RAXTiFY Color Shift Satin Purple Red Vinyl Wrap is made from high-grade polymeric calendered PVC vinyl featuring pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive and air-release channels.

The film is to be applied dry. Its initial tack is low to medium, so that it can be placed and adjusted before final pressure is applied.

Installation direction is important for color-shift films. Ensure the vinyl faces the same direction along adjacent panels. If one piece is rotated, the color may look different than the piece next to it, even if they are from the same roll.

Cutting out large sections of the film can help to keep the vehicle looking uniform in appearance if you mark the direction of the film before cutting.

Do not overstretch, especially across large visible panels. After installation, curves, recesses, edges and overlaps should be properly post-heated.

Care Notes

Regularly clean with a soft microfiber cloth and a pH neutral auto wash soap. Use gentle cleaning solutions and avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh solvents, or chemicals that could impact the satin finish.

If the surface is unevenly contaminated or treated, some areas may have a shinier or more matte appearance, which can create a problem with satin finishes.

There may also be a colour variation between different production batches. If possible, order materials to service multiple panels and/or a whole vehicle at one time.
