Metal Silver is a light to medium silver in RAXTiFY's Gloss Metallic series. It has a neutral metallic silver tone and is not too blue, gold, or brown. The gloss surface enhances the reflectivity of the surface and the metallic surface layer gives depth without creating a glittery, color-shifting, or mirror-chrome effect.

Lighting across a vehicle will change how the silver appears; bright spaces will be a much lighter silver and shaded areas and curved panels will be a darker gray-silver. It is not a special-effect chrome finish, but a more traditional metallic automotive silver.

What Does Gloss Metallic Metal Silver Look Like?

Metal Silver maintains the traditional silver look. The color is more likely to be clean and fairly even on flat surfaces like doors. When the same film is applied to a hood edge or over a fender or bumper or to a rear quarter panel, it will reflect a different shade of silver, depending on the panel angle and surrounding light.

Our installed Metal Silver does not display a noticeable warm hue. The metallic surface reflects more under stronger light and the highlights stand out more. Under less light conditions or when shaded, the grey side of the silver becomes more evident.

The metallic effect is fine, it's not glittery. It provides depth within the color, rather than the sizeable visible sparkles.

Metal Silver is not a 'color shift' finish either. It has a base color of silver, and changes in lighting and viewing angles will alter the brightness, reflectivity and gray-silver depth of the color. The current product specification lists it as a directional Gloss Metallic vinyl, so panel direction should be maintained while installing.

Gloss Metallic Metal Silver vs Chrome Silver: What Is the Difference?

In the case of Metal Silver, the silver body colour comes first. Reflections contribute to the definition of the body lines, but do not overpower the whole surface. This adds a more traditional automotive appearance to the wrap.

Mirror Chrome Silver goes one step further. The surrounding objects and light sources become much more prominent in the visual effect of the vehicle and the surface itself becomes the main effect.

Satin Chrome Silver is another type. Its satin metallic finish produces softer and more diffused reflections than Mirror Chrome.

Metal Silver vs Liquid Silver: Which Silver Wrap Should You Choose?

Both Metal Silver and Liquid Silver are part of our Gloss Metallic collection but they do not look identical once installed!

Based on our current vehicle shots, Metal Silver looks cleaner and more neutral, as the finish has a clear metallic-silver look and still has a good separation between the bright parts and the gray-silver parts.

The transitions are wider and softer for our Gloss Metallic Liquid Silver Car Wrap. Those reflections can also, of course, add a slightly warmer gray-silver look to the surface when there is sufficient surrounding light, which makes the surface appear more fluid.

It may be easier to make the distinction in person than on a screen, and silver is extremely sensitive to lighting, environment, camera settings and car body lines.

Color-Specific FAQs

Is Metal Silver more silver or gray?

Metal Silver is primarily a silver color. It can appear significantly lighter in bright areas, and greyer/silver in shade, reflections and on curved body panels. It isn't dark gunmetal grey.

Is Gloss Metallic Metal Silver a chrome wrap?

Metal Silver is a part of our Gloss Metallic series. It will not have a shiny, mirror-like look as would a Mirror Chrome Silver wrap, but will be shiny and reflective in appearance yet with some depth to it.

Does Metal Silver change color in different lighting?

Metal Silver is not a specific color shift coating, as its apparent brightness and gray-silver finish will vary according to lighting, reflections and viewing angles. The underlying color remains silver.

Is Gloss Metallic Metal Silver directional?

This is a directional film. The panels should be installed in the same film direction during installation in order to keep the vehicle consistent in its metallic look.

Should I order a sample before choosing Metal Silver?

If you are debating between either of the different types of silver finishes such as Metal Silver, Liquid Silver, GT Silver, or another similar finish, we suggest a sample. Silver will appear very different in sunlight, shade, in interior lighting and in reflections.
